50th Anniversary Storybook Guidelines

The online AMS 50th Anniversary Storybook postings celebrate our members. The Storybook collects stories contributed by AMS members describing an experience working at NGA or its predecessor geospatial organizations.

All stories contributed must be entirely unclassified. Stories must be short, between 300-350 words, and content appropriate for the Association, not libelous, and consistent with the AMS purpose, guidelines, and By-Laws.

All contributions received are subject to our online Terms and policies, including, our right to consolidate, edit, redact or otherwise change any contribution, and the decision whether to accept, reject or remove any contribution at any time without notice. By submitting contributions, the contributor accepts the activity’s purpose, guidelines, conditions, and our online Terms and policies.

Please submit your 50th Anniversary Storybook contributions via email to mappingseniors@outlook.com and include “Storybook” in the Subject line. The requested outline includes:

  • Your name.
  • The year you started, the agency name at that time, and the department/office you were originally assigned.
  • Your story, e.g., “What was your favorite “job” at the agency and why?” or an “interesting story you would like to share.”
  • The year, the agency name, and the department/office when you retired.

Plans are to post accepted stories throughout the year on the soon to be released member’s only website. At the conclusion of the AMS 50th Anniversary celebrations, we may produce a consolidated online edition of the AMS News containing all the posted AMS 50th Anniversary Storybook contributions. No hardcopy is planned.
